Our Sustainability
As the pressures on the Earth’s resources, caused by human activity, increase the sustainability of the items we live with becomes much more important.
In buying and using my furniture you are assured that you are buying British made furniture. Most furniture sold in the UK is made in the Far East. The carbon footprint in the making and transportation of my furniture is substantially less.
My furniture is made to last. In the cycle of our lives, we dispose of many day to day items. All those ship movements, truck movements, the packaging, quite apart from the raw material consumed. Living with Michael Northcroft furniture is a different ethos. These are quality items, designed and built to last. We focus on minimising waste in our raw materials. Minimising the carbon footprint of all that we do.
The Oak wood that we use is personally selected by me. The timber is grown in the temperate areas of Europe. We do not use any wood from tropical or rainforest areas. Those environments are too precious. The act of buying temperate hardwoods from European forests gives a commercial value to the forests. It encourages re-planting. Giving the planet renewable regions of life giving oxygen.
